Written Response format requirements
Every written assignment you turn in MUST meet these requirements totaling 40 points of your final grade. I reserve the right to not grade any assignment not meeting these requirements.

1-Writing Assignments Unit
1- Writing Assignment: “Rehearsal Habits that will put you on a Director’s Will Cast Again List” by Michelle Jace
Read and annotate the article together as a class and write a one-page response to the question.
Response question: Citing the article as evidence, discuss what you believe a director values the most in an actor.
2- Tony Tuesday Assignment

2- Actor Preparedness Unit
1- Slate
Write a professional slate to perform in class:
Name, age, Title, Author
2- Base Garment/Makeup
Learn how to build a base for your costumes and how to apply basic stage makeup
3-Uta Hagen Unit
1- Vocab- Uta Hagen
Learn 10 words each week and take a quiz each 20 words
2- Read and annotate the articles about Hagen together as a class. Choose two of her 9 questions to research and give an example of in class in an interesting presentation.
3- Uta Hagen exercises
Complete all Adler exercises in class, turn in packet
4- Hagen scene work
Work on scenes from The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde with a partner. Script analysis and Method work required. Perform in class
4- American Accents Unit
1- Tongue Twister
Choose a tongue twister, memorize, perform in class using both accents
2- New York accent
Work on scenes using a NY accent. Script analysis and Method work required. Perform in class.
3- Southern Accent
Work on scenes using a southern accent. Script analysis and Method work required. Perform in class.
5- Medieval Theatre Unit
1- Read Everyman
Script analysis, research
2- Everyman scene work
Choose scenes to perform in class, script analysis and Method required
6- Monologue Unit
1- Choose monologue to memorize and perform in class. Contemporary either dramatic or comedic. 1 minute in length. Method required. Must audition for SOA using monologue.
7- Commedia Dell Arte Unit
1- Commedia characters
Choose two characters to research and present in class. Must include: costume, characteristics, animal based on, movements
2- Commedia character work
Learn how to move as each character
3- The Two Harlequins
Read and analyze the Commedia play. Choose scenes to perform in class as characters.
4- A Haunted House
Learn how to improv Commedia scenes and improv the play as the Commedia characters.
