Every written assignment you turn in MUST meet these requirements totaling 40 points of your final grade. I reserve the right to not grade any assignment not meeting these requirements.

2- Writing Assignment: “Top 10 Skills Children Learn from the Arts” by Lisa Phillips

Read and annotate the article together as a class and write a one-page response to the question.

Response question: Citing the article as evidence, discuss what you believe is the most valuable skill taught through the arts.

Learn 10 words each week and take a quiz each 20 words

 

 

4- Actor Prep Unit

1-Favorite Actor Assignment

Create a 3 slide power point showing your favorite actor. You can use mine as a template. 

Slate 1- Title card. Must include: your name, period, date, title of the assignment, and the name of your chosen actor.

Slate 2- The name and headshot of your actor and at least 3 sentences explaining what you like about them and why.

Slate 3- 3 pics of your actor in the roles you like and with each picture is an explanation of the character they play in that performance and why you like their characterization.

Learn all the parts of a theater building and be able to identify each part.

3- Slate

Write a professional slate to perform in class:

5- Warm Ups/Improv Unit

Learn how to do physical and verbal warm ups as well as how to play improv games

5 Unbreakable Rules of Improv

 

 

6- Pantomime/Tableau Unit

Learn how to tell a story. Beginning/Middle/End. Learn how not to break.

Learn how to pantomime activities without verbals. Choose a one minute daily activity and create a performance. Must include a beginning, middle and end. The middle must have something bad happen. Create a research doc, all notes in doc. Perform in class.

Read a story together as a class and choose the 3 moments to tell the story. Create 3 scenes in frozen tableau as a cast. Must hold for 1 minute each scene. All notes in google doc. Perform in class.

 

 

7- Movement Unit

1- Dance/Choreo

Learn how to do proper body stretches. Learn 3 dance steps: box step, pivot turn, grapevine. Perform in class.

Learn a set of choreography. Design character and perform in class. All notes in google doc

2- Stage Combat

Learn all the upper body offensive and defensive moves. Choose a partner and create a fight scene. All notes in google doc. Perform in class

 

8- Performance Unit

1- Play production

Learn how to read and code a script. Choose character and scenes to rehearse. Costumes, props, set pieces. All notes/research in google doc

2- Monologue

Learn how to create characters and do line interp for monologues. Choose own monologue, memorize 1 minute and create a character for performance in class.
